For effective business communication it is important that we never assume anyone knows anything. The bigger the group or organization means that more attention must be given to effective business communication. Any time that people are left in the dark they will have a tenacity to dream up all sorts of wild rumors. For there to be any effective leadership effective business communication has to be the passionate obsession. If this is not the case communication chaos will ensue and we will be singing off the same page but flying in all sorts of directions not really getting anywhere.
Rumor will spread like a wild-fire if we do not have an effective business communication plan for keeping our people informed. And just in case you have never noticed when rumors begin to spread because of a lack of effective business communication the rumors are never anywhere close to the reality of a given situation. We will always create our own reality of a situation when the true reality is not communicated by effective business communication.
For Effective Business Communication Consider the Following
Never Assume That Anyone Knows Anything For Effective Business Communication. There is no such thing as to much of a good thing. Effective business communication is the life-blood that pulsates through our people just like the blood rushing through our veins keeping our bodies alive.
The story was told of a man walking down the street and noticed another man trying to get a washing machine into his house and he was struggling with it. The man offered to help and they both proceeded to get the job done. After several minutes and both men completely exhausted the man who offered to help said, “I don’t think we are going to be able to get it in the house.” To which the other man replied, “In? I’m trying to get it out!” Effective business communication is a key to effective leadership and we should never assume that someone knows what we are trying to do.
Keep In Mind As the Organization Grows We Need More Effective Business Communication. Communication chaos will ensue as soon as a small group starts getting larger. There are several things we need to notice in the life cycle of an organization as it grows from birth to adolescence to maturity.
Oral communication is fine when the group is small or at birth and just starting out, but as it grows into maturity we need written communication for effective business communication. Informal communication is fine in the birth of the group, but as it grows into maturity we need formal communication for effective business communication. At birth we can be spontaneous with the group, but as we grow into maturity we need to have planned communication for effective business communication. At birth the life cycle is active and as we approach maturity it is passive. And finally at birth the life cycle is lively and at maturity it becomes liturgical for effective business communication.
