Some Say, The Qualities of A Leader Involve Leadership In the Form of Servanthood!

Servanthood is a more enduring qualities of a leader. And only one person by the name Jesus Messiah could pull this form of leadership off without a hitch.

Servanthood leadership as one of the qualities of a leader is described very well in this quote. “The true leader serves. Serves people. Serves their best interests and in so doing will not always be popular, may not always impress. But because true leaders are motivated by loving concern rather than a desire for personal glory they are willing to pay the price” Eugene B. Habecker.

Servanthood leadership involves the ability to put other people ahead of your personal agendas. The cause is not as important as the people. Jesus Messiah was one of the greatest leaders in history if not the greatest but His real accolade was His greatest service of all – dying on a cross. There is no greater Servanthood then for a ‘good man to die for another.

Most of you probably picture servanthood leadership as something performed by people that are relatively low-skilled, those that are the worker laborers. But servanthood leadership has nothing to do with position or skill. Servanthood is about the proper leadership attitude. It is very easy to detect whether a leader has a servant’s heart or not. The very best leaders desire to serve others not themselves.

Watch this introductory video clip on “The 21 Indispensable Qualities of A Leader” by John C Maxwell, and once you have done this read the rest of the article on servanthood leadership. Servanthood leadership is another one of those indispensable qualities of a leader that every good leadership has at his/her disposal.

Servanthood Leadership Is the Master of the Qualities of A Leader!

You Put Others Ahead of Your Own Agenda. The first mark of servanthood leadership is the ability of intentionally being aware of your people’s needs, available to help them, and you are able to accept their desires as important. Your personal desires are not nearly as important as your people. You put your agenda on hold for servanthood rather than to be served.

You Possess the Confidence To Serve. Only Secure Leaders can give power to other people and it is also true that only Secure Leaders exhibit servanthood leadership. How you treat other people is in reality a reflection of how you think of yourself. “The remarkable thing is that we really love our neighbor as ourselves; we do unto others as we do unto ourselves. We hate others when we hate ourselves. We are tolerant toward others when we are tolerant ourselves. We forgive others when we forgive ourselves. It is not love of self but hatred of self which is at the root of the troubles that afflict our world” Eric Hoffer.

You Initiate Service To Other People. The truly Great Leaders see the need, seize the opportunity, and serve without the expectation of anything in return. Some people will serve in a crisis or when compelled to do so. But look to the heart of the individual that initiates servanthood leadership to other people.

You Are Not Position Conscious. Being a leader if anything gives you a greater sense of obligation to serve. The truly Great Leaders are not focused on rank or position, but rather in servanthood leadership. What is in a title is not nearly as important as what is in the heart.

You Serve Out of LOVE. The extent of your influence depends more on the depth of your concern for other people. It is not motivated by manipulation or self-promotion. The fuel that you are fueled by is your love. This is why you have such a great need for those leaders who are willing to serve. After all real love is rooted in servanthood leadership.

Among the Qualities of A Leader Servanthood Is not Me Leadership!

“Stop lording over people and start listening to them. Stop role playing for advancement and start risking for others’ benefit. Stop seeking your own way and start serving others” Unknown. Those who would truly be great must become the least of all, that is servanthood leadership.

If your attitude is to be served rather than to serve you may be headed into trouble. To become the kind of leader that people want to follow you will have to settle the issue of servanthood leadership. My purpose for putting together this website is to truly serve other people by giving back what others have given to me.

Improve Your Servanthood Leadership Qualities of A Leader By the Following:

Perform Small Acts. You need to spend some time doing small things to show the people in your lives that you really do care. Start with your spouse, children, parents, and siblings (Brothers and sisters). Show servanthood leadership to those you care about the most.

Learn To Walk Slowly Through the Crowd. You need to focus on every person you meet. Make it your agenda to get to know people at the grocery store, Walmart, etc. Learn their first names and learn something about the needs, wants, and desires of people. Later on when you go home make a note to do something beneficial for a few people to show servanthood.

Move Into Action. You need to develop an attitude of servanthood leadership. Start serving with your body and your heart will follow. Sign up to serve other people at your local church or community agency. At the end of six months if your attitude still is not geared to servanthood leadership do it again. We need to keep it up until our hearts change.

In order for you to lead on the highest level you must be willing to lead on the lowest level. “I do not know what your destiny will be but one thing I know: The ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve” Albert Schweitzer.
